«Tonight» – Dimlite Cover

Swiss recording artist and music producer Dimitri Grimm has released a variety of records from 2003 to 2013 under names such as Misel Quitno, Dimlite.. He announces that a new album (named «Cite») is starting to come along under his real name ‘Dim Grimm’ for the first time.

He slowly builds up an ‘end of the year’ tradition where he sends a song from the vault of songs and covers, aka “Quickly made, secret covers of popular music”, to thank people for being around. This year, it’s TV on the Radio’s  «Tonight».

This and last year passed without a ‘Dimlite’ record, but you can find the Dimlite remixes on his Soundcloud. The idea of «Cite» album came about while he was working on a soundtrack for a short movie. Extracting, projecting emotions from statements and turning them into music is how «Cite» is going to be built. It seems that for the new Dim Grimm album to come quicker, we need to visit this page, submit something true and be a part of this creation process.

Soulection White Label N°3: Jarreau Vandal

Soulection’s third installation of their White Label Series (SWL),  is by the electronic music producer Jarreau Vandal all the way from Amsterdam. Beatmaker Sessions Compilation Vol.2 is out !

Beatmaker Sessions have recently announced that the Beatmaker Sessions Compilation Vol.2 is released via Smartguns. Beatmaker “The Future of Music” Sessions is an experimental multi-genre night and their aim is to support future music, help people discover young talented beatmakers and  individual music producers from all over the world, mainly from Austria.

In this compilation, you can experience many different tastes of beatmaking, from experimental downtempo to uplifting synth lines. Each artist, selected for this compilation, put a lot of effort and introduce us their fresh new sounds.

The Red Violin

One of my favourite movies is ‘The Red Violin‘ which tells the story of a cursed violin, spans for four centuries. The reason what makes this film so good is of course the music it has. The scores are composed by American musician John Corigliano and throughout the movie, the solos are played by noted violinist Joshua Bell. The film received an Academy Award for the Best Original Score. ‘The Gypsies/Journey Across Europe’ is a very mysterious track, which makes you imagine the atmosphere perfectly even if you haven’t seen the movie before. Fresh Familee

Fresh Familee is one of the first German hip-hop groups in the late 80s, based of Turkish, Moroccan, Macedonian and German members. They mostly sing about the issues that effect the band members personally – migrant issues, drugs, social problems, violence and crime. Fresh Familee quickly became known, received the 1990 ‘Young Investigator Award Düsseldorf’ and went on tour in Germany with American rapper Ice-T as the opening act. Their song ‘Ahmet Gunduz’ is considered first pressed German rap production and afterwards, they got signed with a major record label, Phonogram/Mercury.

After four album releases, the group has disbanded. Since then, the members are participating in other musical projects. Here’s is my favourite track from their ‘Alles Frisch’ (1994) album, enjoy.
